Pence Gallery

Davis, California
2003

The Pence Gallery Association proposed the conversion of its existing facility in Davis, California into a state-of-the-art museum gallery space to enhance the cultural climate and the economic development of Downtown Davis. The proposed facility would be 6,600 square feet and incorporate larger gallery spaces necessary for major exhibits and for local emerging artist shows, community meetings, and a lecture space. Additional program elements included staff offices, intern/docent areas, storage, and public restrooms. Improved outdoor sculpture exhibition space and other program features were to be incorporated from city and community input. The Pence Gallery board desired a new cultural attraction, with a 24-hour draw, to be a major regional center for the arts.
