Huanxiu Lake Development

Jixian Province, People's Republic of China
2007

The site consists of 110 acres overlooking Huanxiu Lake. Located between Tianjin and Beijing, the site becomes a prime area for a high-end resort. The program includes individual housing units, a low-rise boutique hotel, conference center, and retail shopping. The placement and positioning of structures was influenced by  a variety of factors including traditional Chinese architecture, the principles of Confucionism, Taoism, and Feng Shui, paths of travel, site vegetation, climate conditions, views, and other existing site conditions.  Throughout the site, a series of stone walls composed of local stones, follows the contours of the site and creates a sense of history into the overall layout and design.
